"In a sleepy village in the middle of English countryside nowhere, Katie works in a quiet petrol station and passes her downtime reading sci-fi romance books, pausing only to crush on the reclusive, lumberjane-esque older girl who regularly visits to top up her battered land rover.

Unbeknownst to her, the girl - Cara - secretly harbours a crush in return, only she's much too shy to do anything about it, and instead uses their awkward interactions as prompts for the sci-fi romance novels she writes.
